We recommend to always test run your air-conditioning system a few weeks before the start of summer and winter to make sure it is running well and either cooling or heating effectively.
To keep your air-conditioning system running at its most optimum efficiency and capacity, it is essential to clean the filter every 2-3 months. It is recommended to have a preventative maintenance service carried out every 12 months to check and inspect all functions and components of the system.
Air conditioners filters accumulate a lot of dust and grime depending on how often it is used and the environment the system is running in. This constant build up causes the airflow to be reduced, and consequently a loss of filtration and efficiency.
If the filter light is continuously flashing on the system, press the on/off button once. This should reset it for another 200 hours of running time. The filter light only appears after a certain number of hours being in use, or if the filter needs to be cleaned.
In most homes, the filters used are generally the washable type and should be cleaned by gently washing with water. If water itself is not enough to clean the filter grime build up, a mild detergent can be used along with water.
On a hot day, always turn the system on early in the morning to reduce external heat that may cause the system to take some time to cool down the desired area. Keep all outdoor windows and doors closed. Only operate zones that are required and gradually switch other zones on if necessary. The most efficient temperature for cooling is 23 degrees Celsius with the fan set on CONT.
On a cold day, keep all outside doors and windows closed and operate the system using a time function to allow the area the warm up. On a very cold day, the air-conditioning system may take an hour or two to warm up the area. This is due to the system going into the DEFROST mode. Make sure that the fan mode is only set to AUTO, this will eliminate cold drafts on the OFF cycle. The most efficient temperature for heating is 21 degrees Celsius.
